US president Donald Trump: President of United States of America Donald Trump congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for BJP’s recent assembly election victories. BJP had swept Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand in the assembly polls. It has also formed a government in Goa and Manipur as well forming an alliance with other local parties.

Trump spoke third time to Modi after victory in US presidential polls

US president had also called German chancellor Angela Merkel for her party’s victory in a provincial election.

This was the third publically known phone conversation amid Modi and Trump after latter’s victory in US presidential elections last November. The talked each other on the morning after Trump’s landslide victory in the US who defeated Hillary Clinton–– presidential candidate of the Democratic candidate. The second conversation took place President Trump’s inauguration.

Their officials and aides have spoken and met many times since Trump’s election, with the first team of Indian officials meeting vice-president-elect Mike Pence.

US president Donald Trump: Sushma Swaraj and foreign secretary had also met US’ diplomats

External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson spoke on phone. Earlier in March foreign secretary S Jaishankar met with the top US diplomat during a visit to the US.

Jaishnakar was accompanied by commerce secretary Rita Teotia who met McMaster and President Trump’s top advisor on international economic affairs Kenneth Juster in the white house, commerce secretary Wilbur Ross and secretary for homeland security John Kelly.
