Diljit Dosanjh, the present King of Punjabi Music and Punjabi film industry is all set to be seen in another role on National Television. The singer-actor is all set to join Shankar Mahadevan as a co-judge on an upcoming reality Singing show “Rising Star.”
A well-known entertainment tabloid had earlier reported about composer-singer Shankar Mahadevan judging the upcoming reality show on Colors TV, Rising Star. It was also confirmed later when Shankar appeared in the promo of the show.
And now, the same portal have learnt that Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh who made his Bollywood debut in Abhishek Chaubey’s drugs-drama Udta Punjab in June has come onboard too.

Diljit also confirmed the news and also looked excited about the new role. “Singing is more of a passion for me than profession which I have been nurturing for the last 11 years. The show is an enabler through which I hope to share my passion with the country’s budding talent,” Diljit told Mirror about his Hindi telly debut, adding that he believes it’s critical to have a good voice as well as a performer’s personality.
Diljit is climbing up and up in his career from Punjabi music to movie, from Punjabi movies to Bollywood, and now he will be seen in another role ofSinging reality show. So, his fans will obviously be excited to see him in the new role.
Diljit is all praise for his co-judge Shankar Mahadevan. “I am excited to collaborate with a superlative singer like Shankar Mahadevan for such a unique concept. The show’s format is really intriguing,” he told Mirror.
Meanwhile, the 32-year-old Punjabi star’s next Bollywood project is Anushka Sharma’s home production, ‘Phillauri,’ in which he will be seen sharing screen space with the actress-filmmaker. Diljit is known as the King of Punjabi music industry and he also grabbed the eyeballs of many Hindi filmmakers with his performances in movies like Punjab 1984, which also won the national award for Best Punjabi Film.
