Ex-TN chief secretary: The former Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary P Rama Mohana Rao while addressing to media on Tuesday said he was kept under house arrest post the Income Tax raid at his residence and office premises.
He said that IT raid was ‘constitutional assault’ further adding that Centre has no respect for the state. “They handled me at gun point,” said Rao.
My life was in grave danger, says Ex-TN chief secretary
He further asserted that his life was in grave danger and mentioned, “If Jayalalithaa was alive, and neither the I-T nor the CRPF would have dared to enter the secretariat premises.”
“I used to obey all that Jayalalithaa said…I am being targeted now…my life is in danger,” Rao. He told the media that he was still the Chief Secretary of the state even though the government has appointed a new person.
P Rama Mohana Rao also distanced himself from miner-contractor and AIADMK functionary Sekhar Reddy who has been arrested by CBI in connection with huge seizures of black money at his residence and office.
“I have no links with Sekar Reddy. I have nothing to do with him. He has nothing to do with any government business,” Rao told the press. Fourteen of Reddy’s premises were raided leading to seizures of over Rs 130 crore including 34 crore in bills of Rs 2000 and 177 kilograms of gold.
It is worth mentioning here that the Income tax department seized Rs 30 lakh in new currency notes of Rs 2000 and 5kgs with documents with details of undisclosed assets from Rao, his son Vivek and latter in-laws’ house situated in Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh.
