May 20, 2016: A Delhi-bound Indigo Flight which took off from Vadodara made an emergency landing at Ahmadabad International Airport on Thursday due to the technical issues triggered that was carrying 177 passengers on board, officials said.
The Airlines officials stated that, the Indigo Flight 591 from Vadodara to New Delhi with 177 passengers and six crew members on board made an emergency landing after facing technical fault. The Flight which was scheduled for takeoff from Vadodara Airport pulled back from its course to land in Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 9 AM following the technical problems that has occurred in the aircraft, said the officials.
The passengers on board suffered panic and fear after the pilot made an announcement that the aircraft needs to be landed due to some technical issue occurred in the aircraft.
The sources said that, the flight had to circle over Ahmadabad airspace as the runway was not available to allow the flight to land due to the rush of scheduled early morning flights.
It is informed that the Airport runway is currently close between 10 AM and 6 PM due to the ongoing resurfacing work taking place and no flight operates as the runway remains closed during that period of time, hence the passengers will be flown to New Delhi in the next flight at 7:30 PM.
Meanwhile, the Indigo flight is currently stuck at the Ahmadabad Airport which will be flown only at 7:30PM as the airport’s runway remains closed due to the ongoing resurfacing work. It is mentioned that most of the passengers have been accommodated in some hotels and few of the passengers have opted to return to Vadodara to take an alternate flight at Vadodara Airport, said the officials.
