Jia Jia Chinese robot: “Jia Jia” is a life-like robot you can chat with, it can make various facial expressions and its eye-movements are just like that of humans. It is China’s first human-like robot which has been made by the University of Science and Technology China.

The robot has been first showcased at the economic conference organised by the banking giant UBS in Shanghai. The words uttered by the robot sync with its lip movement and the eye movement is just human-like. Chen Xiaoping, creator of this robot and team leader said that with the advent of artificial intelligence, robots like Jia Jia can be employed at restaurants, nursing homes and households etc to do the unskilled work.

Jia Jia can successfully respond to questions, recognise the gender of the person with whom it holds a conversation. It can also spot the difference between human and mechanic conversation. It also has navigation feature. All of its features are controlled by the cloud technology.
Jia Jia is the first robot of its kind. Such technology is deemed to be greatly beneficial for carrying out menial work in restaurants and nursing homes as said by Xiaoping.
