New Dog breeding rules: Sale and purchase of dogs could be online, says Anil Dave
A draft notification of prevention of cruelty to Animals (Dog Breeding and Marketing Rules) has been put out in public domain by the Central Minister Anil Dave. Dave said that the move was being made as there were no Rules in the Country on the breeding, sale and purchases of dogs and the new rules could hopefully make the sale and purchase of dogs online.
Talking about the draft Rules, it will be mandatory for all dog breeders and the dog breeding establishment for registering themselves with the State Animal welfare Board of the respective State Governments and the report regarding animal sold, traded bartered, brokered, etc. must be submitted to the State Board on yearly basis.
What the rules define?
The rules define the breeding conditions for sale of dogs, and also make it mandatory for dog breeders to keep the proper records of both male and female dogs, micro chip number, number of litters, sale, purchase, death rehabilitation etc. if someone ignores the conditions imposed by government will lead to cancellation of the registration of the dog breeder.
