Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh on Monday said that there was a deep-rooted conspiracy for the daring day Nabha jailbreak case; hence the investigation should be handed-over to CBI. He raised a question on the arrest of Khalistan Liberation Front Chief Harminder Singh Mintoo saying the conspiracy has deepened now. He also suspects the involvement of Badals.

“Because the Punjab Police DGP Suresh Arora has already admitted to conspiracy and connivance in the matter, the case should not be probed by the Punjab Police and handed over to CBI for an independent investigation,” He said
Amarinder Singh also accused the ruling Akalis of resorting to communal polarization when faced with imminent defeat”. He also alleged in a statement that “The Nabha jailbreak incident also pointed to such an attempt by the state government,”.
Captain termed the arrest of Mintoo as drama saying everything was a planned either he escaped from Nabha Jail in Patiala along with five others yesterday, he accused the government that it is putting the entire matter under the carpet with the arrest of Mintoo, and demanded a thorough probe.
“It is a clear case of connivance,” he maintained and added that since Mintoo was nabbed in Delhi, the case could jointly be probed by the CBI and the IB, with support from the Delhi police.

Captain Amarinder Singh further said “The ease of his arrest contradicted Sukhbir Badal’s claims of a Pakistani role in the escape of the terrorist, who has about a dozen terror cases against him. “ Had the whole thing been plotted from across the border, Mintoo would have by now escaped out of India, instead of waiting in Delhi to be nabbed, said Singh.
He demanded meticulous interrogation of Mintoo and also the Nabha jail break by independent agencies to reach the roots of the conspiracy and the accused. He said police department and administrative in Punjab is under the Akalis, such obvious incidents of law and order breakdown were to be expected ahead of assembly polls in the state. Assembly polls in the Punjab are scheduled early 2017.
Viewing the increasing fear of violence and possible terrorist attacks in the poll-bound state, Amarinder reiterated his demand for imposing presidential rule to conduct fear free and fair elections in the state. It is worth mentioning here that Chief of Khalistani Liberation Force Harminder Singh was arrested on Monday from Delhi railway station.
