Recently, the news came out that the home appliances company Videocon has hugely benefited the BJP’s ally in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena. Shiv Sena disclosed to the Election commission of India that it had received contribution of Rs 86.8 crore from corporate and non-corporate in 2015-16
Out of the total contribution, mostly came from Videocon to Shiv Sena
It is worth mentioning here that, out of the total contribution, whopping Rs 85crore came from the home appliances maker company Videocon which is managed by industrialist Rajkumar Dhoot who has also represented the party in the Rajya Sabha for the past three consecutive terms.
Videocon had donated an amount of Rs 2.83 to Sena in 2015. It also gave Rs 25 lakh to Sharad Pawar-led NCP. The statement made by the corporate and non-corporates is on the Election Commission’s website.
BJP has not yet disclosed its donors’ list
As per section 139 of the Income Tax Axt, on September 27, 2016, Rajya Sabha member Anil Desai representative of Shiv Sena submitted a detailed Statement before the EC on Contributions received by the party from corporate and non-corporate during the fiscal year of 2015-16
At the same time, Congress has declared a contribution of Rs 22 crore, whereas NCP has received Rs 71.78lakh. But, BJP has not yet declared the list of donors. As per the statement of Anil Desai indicating that Kumar Infra Projects,Serenity Traders, Modern Road Makers and Yasar Arafat Infrastructures and Developers are among major corporate contributors who have funded Sena.
