It was 28th August 2016 at the Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, when the star-studded 2016 MTV Video Music Awards event took place. The event witnessed a lot of wonderful performances and the deserving artists won the awards. There were many big stars from the music industry and many of them were awarded the prestigious 2016 MTV Video Music Awards at the event.
Beyonce had the maximum number of nominations i.e. eight and she was followed by Adele with a total of eight nominations. Adele’s video “Hello got the maximum number of nominations in seven categories. Rihanna performed on several medley numbers in the event and won the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Beyonce won a total of eight awards.
Britney Spears also performed at the ceremony after nine years since she was criticised for her performance at the 2007 MTV Music awards. The event was telecast on many Viacom cable networks.
