The Supreme Court has said that the Tamil Nadu famous bull-taming sport Jallikatu is not allowable and is also against the constitutional principles. The court was hearing the petition filled by the non-profit organization who desire to ban on this sport.

Tamil Nadu government is in the favor to held Jallikattu during four-day Pongal festival in view of the huge popularity of the sport among masses.
Traditional event displays cruelty of animals : activists
Alleging that the motive was political, non-profits like compassion unlimited Plus Action, People for Ethical Treatment of Animals India and the federation of Indian Animal Protection organizations, say the ancient cultural tradition results in cruelty to animals.
Organizations say there is clear video evidence of how animals assaulted, intoxicated and subjected to other form of cruelty. Lime juice is squeezed into their eyes and chilli powder is rubbed on their private parts to make them violent.
The environment ministry on January 7 through formal notification, allowed the sport to take place. The Supreme court, which later put a stop to it, will hear the matter again on November 16.
