May 19, 2016: Odisha and Andhra Pradesh is likely to be hit by the Cyclone Roanu during the next 48 hours where a deep depression formed in the Bay of Bengal is feared to have create cyclonic conditions over the east-south-east coastal regions of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh and likely to move North-eastwards, according to the India Meteorological Department reports.
According to the previous reports, Cyclone Phalin and Cyclone Hudhud have hit the regions in the year 2013 and 2014, and caused much of the disaster and destruction. Being the victim of the disaster, the officials have alarm the locals to prepare in advance for the storm that is be likely to destroy the coastal areas which is likely to hit in the next 48 hours.
It is learnt that, Odisha is expected to receive light to heavy showers and thunderstorms while light to extremely heavy showers is likely to occur over many areas in the coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh. The fishermen’s and other locals living nearby are also warned and advisable to stay away from the coastal regions as the sea will remain rough and unsmooth.
AP CM Chandrababu told the media after analyzing the situation, that the “District Collectors are directed to take the necessary steps like keeping the food items and water packets ready” in advance.
