Jammu and Kashmir Bank Robbery: Ever since the Indian economy has been hit by demonetization, it is not only the common people who have been hit by its repercussions but also the terrorist outfits who are now in deep waters as they face a money crunch and can do nothing about it as well.
Jammu and Kashmir Bank Robbery – Militants rob Rs 11 lakh old denomination notes in haste, left dumbstruck
Recently, in Jammu and Kashmir, a group of four militants barged into Malpora bank branch and looted a sum of Rs 12.45 lakh at gunpoint. However, they found out later that out of the looted amount, Rs 11 lakh was in 500 and 1000 denomination of scrapped currency. No harm as such has been reported.
At the time of the robbery, there was no watchman deputed at the bank. The militants came in a WagonR car, immediately rushed into the bank, then after taking Rs 12.5 lakh cash left in the same car.
The four militants were carrying guns and slapped the cashier asking him to give them the money. The police officials told the media that the search for the militants has been initiated – “and a manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits.”
Abdul Wahid Shah, Senior Superintendent of Police, Budgam said, “This is a branch that has been operating from inside hired shops. There were no security cameras installed in the branch.”
The Intelligence officials and the anti-terrorist groups are further investigating into the repercussions of demonetisation on various terrorist groups.
