There is not a perfect employer anywhere in the world. However, some companies are far closer to perfection that are others, at least as far as the employees see it.
Using feedback that remained anonymous provided by employees who complete the reviews of employers, Glassdoor the jobs site, compiled a list of the best places for work in the U.S.
Companies usually making the list typically are valued by the employees, had a unique style culture that was aligned with the mission of the company, offered a clear direction, provided excellent perks and benefits as well as hired very smart people.
The best place to work amongst the large employers is Airbnb, the accommodations site that specializes in peer-to-peer accommodations.
One employee at the San Francisco office of Airbnb said that the company had amazing people, a vibrant workplace and a culture that is unbeatable. In addition, the employee said the pay, perks, insurance, growth opportunities, parties and food were top notch.
In second place was Bain & Co. the global consulting company. It received the highest marks of any business for its career opportunities, benefits and compensation, values, senior leadership and culture.
However, it missed the top spot overall partly due to it being ranked far lower than most other companies are in the work-life balance assessed by employees.
In third place was Guidewire, the company makes software for casualty and property insurers. It got more props than all other companies did for its excellent balance of work and life.
The trust that is given the employees means the work hours flexibility is enormous. That is probably the No. 1 reason we can keep the top talent we already have, said one of the company’s staff engineers in their office in Foster City, California.
The top 5 on the list was rounded out by No. 4 Hubspot a marketer and at No. 5 a social media company that is not widely known called Facebook.
Below those two is LinkedIn a network site for professionals, and the Boston Consulting Group followed by Google.
Amongst the smaller companies, ones that have less than 1,000 workers, Madwire the digital marketing services and software provider was No. 1.
This is the Top 10 of the List of 50.
