After the few hours of Donald Trump’s controversial statement on “abortion and crime”, Donald Trump reverses his statement soon after facing criticism from leading anti-abortion groups and his presidential competitors.
Earlier on Wednesday, during the Townhall program with MSNBC host Chris Mathews, Donald was asked the same as stated below:
“If you say abortion is a crime or abortion is murder, you have to deal with it under the law, should abortion be punished?”
Indicating the women who undergo abortion, Donald replied:
“The answer is that there has to be some form of punishment”. Soon after his statement social media, his political rivals and leading anti-abortion groups severely criticized his statement which forced him to change his statement later on. However, he never stated which punishment would be applied for the women who went through this crime (abortion) or for the doctors.
After few hours of Donald’s statement, the candidate for the president of United States made a clarification statement and he said, “The doctor or any other person performing this illegal act (abortion) upon a woman would be held legally responsible, not the woman”. Further, he added “The woman is a victim in this case as is the life in her womb”, Complete reverse and a defensive statement which he made earlier.
On Donald’s “women and abortion” statement, his opponents Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich who are also seeking the nomination didn’t miss the chance to criticize him.
Ted Cruz said, “Once again Donald Trump has demonstrated that he has not seriously thought through the issues, and he will say anything just to get attention”. Whereas John Kasich stated, “Of course, women shouldn’t be punished for having an abortion”.
While talking with CNN, the democratic front-runner and the nominee for president of United Stated, Hilary Clinton responded on Trump’s statement and she said, “The Republicans all line up together, now maybe they are not quite as open about it as Donald Trump was earlier today, but they all have the same position”, “if you make abortion a crime you make it illegal then you make women and doctors criminals” she added.
