If you are all tucked up in your seat hoping for some FIFA adventure, fasten your seat belt as the much-awaited semi-final between the USA vs. Argentina begins. The US is all prepared with their star midfielders Graham Zusi, Kyle Beckerman and forwarder Chris Wondolowski.
The changes were made because of the suspension of three in-form players – midfielders Jermaine Jones, Alejandro Bedoya and forward Bobby Wood. Prior this crucial match, US coach Jurgen Klinsmann decided to go forward with the safest option possible.
Jermaine Jones got his red card in the quarterfinals against Ecuador along with Alejandro Bedoya and forward Bobby Wood receiving their second yellow card of the tournament. However, Team US made a remarkable win against Ecuador in their quarterfinal match.
DeAndre Yedlin is also making a return after serving his one-game suspension for the yellow card. Brad Guzan was at goal with DeAndre Yedlin at the right back position, Cameron and Brooks making their place in central defence and Johnson returning to left back positon. Fabian Johnson position has changed after switching the sides for a match to cover Yedlin’s absence.
In today’s game, Kyle Beckerman is replacing Jones in the midfield for a 4-4-2 formation and Graham Zusi is taking over Bedoya joining US Captain Michael Bradley and Gysasi Zardes while forwarder Chris Wondolowski is pairing up with Clint Dempsey for the attack.
While on the other side, Argentina has made one change by starting forward with Ezequiel Lavezzi in place of Nicolas Gaitan. For Argentina, Sergio Romero is at goal position with Gabriel Mercado covering right back. Nicolas Otamendi and Ramiro Funes Mori are in the central defence with Marcos Rojo at left back position.
While Javier Mascherano plays defensive at the midfield with Augusto Fernandez and Ever Banega; Lionel Messi, five-time FIFA player of the year, heads the attack along with Higuian and Lavezzi.
