The lands bought by the BJP for its party offices across the Bihar has surrounded with controversies. News has emerged out that days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the surprising decision of demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) party bought land worth crores of rupees.

Most transactions for property were done on behalf of Amit Shah

According to several reports, BJP bought many land parcels in Bihar up to the first week November. And on 8Novmeber PM Modi announced the ban on Rs 500 and Rs 1000. A report published in Catch news shows at least 10 such property transaction done by BJP functionaries in Bihar for the party. Some of them were brought on behalf of BJP President Amit Shah.

Sanjeev Chaurasia, member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from Digha was quoted as saying,

, “”Sab jagah khareeda jaa raha tha… Bihar ke saath aur jagah bhi khareeda jaa raha hai… Hum log to sirf signatory authority he hain paisa to party ki taraf se aaya tha… saari zameein khareedi hain… party karyalay ke liye aur anya kaamo ke liye… November 1st week tak zameen khareedi hain.”

 From above mentioned statements showed that the BJP went on a property buying spree in planned and phased manner.  Most of the lands were bought in cities and towns such as Madhepura, Lakhisarai, Madhubani, Katihar, Kishanganj and Arwal. And, the size of the land acquired from 250sq feet to about half an acre. The estimated value of lands Rs 8 lakh to RS 1.16crore.The costliest land parcel was bought at Rs1, 100per sq feet.

The leaders to whom the plots were transferred, National President, Bhartiya Janta Party through Sanjeev Chaurasia, Gen Sec Bihar’. One property in this name has been bought for Rs 60.13 lakh in Lakhisarai.

Sanjeev Chaurasia – The general secretary of BJP’s Bihar unit. The address Chaurasia has given in the deed is 11 Ashoka Road – the national headquarters of BJP.

Dilip Kumar Jaiswal – The treasurer of BJP’s Bihar unit. One of the deeds mentions his address is as Purabpali Road, PS – district Kisanganj. And another deed mentions his address as 11 Ashoka Road.

Lal Babu Prasad – The vice-chairman of BJP’s Bihar unit. His address is – Village Arya Samaj Road Narkatiyaganj, PS – Narkatiyaganj, West Champaran.

In some cases, the applicant is BJP itself. And the address given is 11 Ashoka Road. Story courtesy: Catch News
