CM Nitish urges PM: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar appealed PM Narendra Modi to order liquor ban in all BJP-ruled states for creating a friendly and constructive environment in the country.

“I thank the PM for praising prohibition in Bihar. I also praise him (PM) for effectively implementing liquor ban in his home state Gujarat during 12 years of his chief ministership,” he said addressing a ‘Chetna Sabha’ here.

PM Modi during 350th birth anniversary celebration of Guru Gobind Singh in Patna had praised Nitish Kumar for effectively implementing prohibition in the state and urges to all political parties and social groups to join the campaign to make sure its success.

Bihar’s Nitish Kumar government had declared the state a dry state in April last year, has taken it as mission and is moving all over the  Bihar through his Nischay yatra to get feedback from people on banning trade and consumption of alcohol.

 Tibetan Spiritual leader the Dalai Lama has also praised Kumar for prohibition. Dalai Lama, who is in Bodh Gaya in connection with Kalachakra Puja being attended by devotees of 80 countries has lauded CM Nitish for a complete ban on liquor in the state and also appealed followers not to touch it.

Ban on Liquor has brought social change in the state

The CM said ban on liquor has not only brought about a social change, mainly in rural areas, but also led to economic prosperity in the state. With the ban, the crime rate in Bihar has significantly turned down. Instead of buying liquor, People are spending their money on good things. He claimed that anyone can see for self how people life had improved in the state.

“Wherever I go, women share pleasant experiences of their lives as a result of the ban on liquor,” Nitish said and called upon people to take part in the human chain to be formed on January 21 to express their support to prohibition.

CM Nitish Kumar also inspected the Public Grievances Redressal Centre, situated on the collectorate campus. The centre is to receive complaints from people, which will be looked into in a fixed time frame., Nitish had earlier inaugurated a Panchayat Sarkar Bhawan at Telauchh village under Chautham block of the district.
