Coca Cola and Pepsi Products Loaded With Lead and Harmful Toxins

India has become the hub of soft drinks, and almost every single person consumes soft drinks in their daily life. This necessitates regular tests and checks to ensure that they are safe for consumption. In a recent study conducted, lead and other heavy metals like cadmium and chromium have been found in five samples of the products of two multinational companies, Coca-cola and Pepsi. Samples were submitted at Kolkata National Test house for investigation of Sprite, Mountain Dew, Coca Cola and Pepsi. The results about the products came out in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, during the winter session of the Parliament.

Samples of Coca Cola and Pepsi were submitted after government commissioned a study through Drug technical advisory which found the leading toxins and lead in the famous soft drinks. The study details were conducted by Kolkata-based All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health (AIIH&PH). Minister of Health, Faggan Singh Kulaste said that the government will be testing and will estimate the exact quantity of toxins in Coca Cola and Pepsi.

Even during last year in April, reports came out about the toxicity in Coca Cola and Pepsi drinks. PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles – used for packaging pharmaceutical preparations, cold drinks, alcohol, juices and other beverages contains toxins. The multinational companies Coca Cola and Pepsi are claiming that their drinks are safe. However, government came out with the report that these PET bottles do contain five different types of toxins

According to a study conducted by World Health Organization, lead and cadmium are considered as the most dangerous toxins for humans. Children are more vulnerable to the harmful effects of lead. And consuming it through Coca Cola and Pepsi products it will become a sweet poison that will completely shut down the nervous system. The studies showed that, if lead is consumed, it directly attacks the brain and central nervous system which can result in person going into coma or death. Adolescents are severely affected by this poison which can make them mentally retarded. Cadmium on other hand releases toxic that directly affects the kidney, skeletal system as well as respiratory system.

It is needed to understand that Coca Cola and Pepsi products are not good for health of any human being. Mere taste is not everything, a good health is all we need so make our lives better.
