India has become fastest growing user of Social networking site Facebook than the rest of the world, a renowned company executive said. In terms of daily active users in Facebook, India has recently shown her presence with the growth of 22% of active users year on year compared with 17% globally, including its home market, the US.
Facebook focuses on next billion users of India
“We are growing faster in India as compared to the average of the rest of the world. Our prime focus right now is for the next billion people to come online and India is obvious a huge part of that” said Adam Mosseri, vice president, product management at Facebook’s new office in Gurgaon.
Mosseri is in India to educate publishers, advertisers and technology firms about how the Facebook News Feed function and to learn more about India, a rapidly growing market for the company. The News Feed is personalized stream of stories from a user’s network of friends and publishers
Messori introduced new feature of the popular site
Currently, Facebook has 155million monthly active users, 77million daily active users, 147million monthly active users and 73million mobile daily active users in India.
Mosseri also introduced New Architecture, a performance tool to improve the overall News Feed experience and deliver relevant stories in a perfect manner. All these features will work on Android phone that work on 2G in India which is being tested stage wise in India from Thursday.
Company is looking India as an ideal marketing place
Facebook is looking for growth because of slow US ad market and nothing seems as great as India’s under-pretended market, in term of users, advertising, and Internet access.
Mosseri further said that the percentage of people who are on the internet in the US is much higher than in India. Therefore, there is room for lots of first-time users to come online.
Second, we were present in the US much earlier than we were present in India. Roughly 2/3rds of the US is on Facebook and in India, I don’t think that 2/3 of the population is even online. Presently, Facebook is available in 12 Indian languages.
