Uttar Pradesh Congress leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi joined BJP on Thursday in the presence of BJP president Amit Shah ahead of UP polls. This is an another great jolt to Congress after joining former Cheif Minister of Uttarakhand and her brother Vijay Bhuguna to BJP. Although Congress had denied that Congress 67 years-old Lucknow cantonment representative would follow her brother, but it became opposite to its imagination again.
Rita Bahuguna Joshi joins BJP : While addressing to media persons during the press conference after joining BJP, Joshi said that “I was very upset over the Congress party’s on surgical strike and Rahul Gandhi’s Khoon ki Dalali Remarks”. “This was a difficult decision. I have served Congress for 24 years. I have taken this decision for benefit of the nation,”said Rita Bahuguna Joshi
Congress Stalwart’s daughter makes her own way
Joshi is the daughter of Congress stalwart Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna. As per the media reports Joshi was not happy with the policy of Congress. She was finding herself as sidelined when the party announced Shiela Dixit as the chief Ministerial candidate of UP and also felt unhappy after Raj Babbar was named as the state Chief.
INC on its backfoot in UP
With her decision to join BJP, Congress has on its back foot just before the assembly polls in UP. On the other hand, the joining of Rita Bahuguna in the party will help the saffron party consolidate Brahmin votes, eying which the congress had declared Sheila Dixit as its chief ministerial pick.
