Former Union Minister E Ahemad passes away: Former Congress Minister and President of Indian Union Muslim League MP E Ahamed passed away on an early morning of Wednesday due to cardiac arrest. He died at 2.15 am at RML Hospital. He was admitted to the RML hospital on Tuesday when President Pranab Mukherjee was addressing both houses and put him on artificial life support.
He was shifted to AIIMS hospital for embalming
“E Ahamed has passed away at 2:15 am. His body has been taken to AIIMS hospital for embalming (a method to preserve a corpse from decaying) as the facility is not available at RML,” a senior RML doctor told news agency PTI.
“The hospital staff ensured top-class healthcare to the patient. His well-being alone was our primary focus and there has been no compromise on that,” said a RML official.
Ahamed who represents Malappuram constituency in Kerala was taken to the hospital after he suffered a cardiac arrest during President Mukherjee’s address to both houses in the central hall. He was shifted to RML trauma centre’s ICU around 2.15 PM where the doctors put him on the ventilator and breathed his last.
Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, vice president Rahul Gandhi and senior leader Gulam Nabi Azad had gone to the hospital late Tuesday night to meet his family members.
There was a high-voltage drama at the hospital created by Ahamed’s family members when they were not allowed to meet the leader.
