Ganesh Chaturthi Shubh Muhurat Pooja Timings 2016: Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated as the birth anniversary of the Hindu God Ganesh who is the son of Lord Shiva. Lord Ganesha is worshipped on Ganesh Chaturthi in every Hindu household. It is celebrated in the month of August or September depending on the Hindu calendar dates. The festival is a ten days occasion that ends with Ganesh Visarjan.

Ganesh Chaturthi Shubh Muhurat to perform Pooja
People wait for the celebrations of this festival throughout the year and start preparing for its celebrations since a very long time. The pooja and other rituals of this pious festival are done according to the Ganesh Chaturthi Shubh Muhurat for the sake of Hindu traditions.
According to the Hindus, the time between the sunrise to sunset is divided into five equal parts known as the Pratahkala, Sangava, Madhyahna, Aparahna and Sayankal. Ganesh Chaturthi pooja is preferred in the Madhyahna because according to Hindu mythology, Ganesha was born during this kala and it is the midday. Ganesh pooja is performed during the Madhyahna and it’s called as the Shodashopachara Ganapati pooja.
This year Ganesh Chaturthi is going to be celebrated on 5th September. According to the astrologer, the Chaturthi Tithi will begin from 4th September at 6:54pm and end on 5th September at 9:10pm. But it will be celebrated on 5th September 2016.
According to the traditions, it is prohibited to see the moon on Ganesh Chaturthi. It is believed that on Ganesh Chaturthi, sighting moon creates Mithya Dosham or Mithya Kalank which is the false allegation of stealing something. So, it’s better to avoid sighting the moon on the festival. If by chance anybody sights moon, he/she should chant the given mantra to get rid of the curse:

सुकुमारक मारोदीस्तव ह्येष स्यमन्तकः॥”
