Earlier this year, Ghostbusters movie reboot got a crucial response from the fans which was mixed to positive. The team of Melissa McCarthy, Kirsten Wig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones in main roles, forming a group of the paranormal follower. The team intends to stop the ghostly invasion of Manhattan, from the spookiest ghosts ever. It featured some of the ghosts which were part of the original Ghostbusters movie. After the response, it was not clear whether there would be any other sequel to Ghostbusters movie or not. Now that the movie did a great business on box office which covers all the expenditures of the producers and studios, new movies are in development.
Postive Sequels in progress
The paranormal action/comedy franchise will move ahead with the new films. Original Ghostbusters movie director Ivan Reitman produced the new reboot which was directed by Paul Feig who has many hits under his name. Ivan Reitman shared his thoughts during his Mr. Wavvy Podcast Interview, where he gave the information about the Ghostbusters sequels. He said, “There’s going to be many other Ghostbusters movies, they’re just in development right now.”
Sony wanted a TV show or animated movie show
It was reported that the new movie may have lost about $70 million after its big promotional budget. Sony was not happy and claimed that those numbers are well off-base. Though, it’s clear that reboot didn’t do that well as the original movie did. This might be the reason that the sequel news may not have hard truth into it. Apart from that, Sony was thinking about a cartoon TV show and animated film on Ghostbusters. The latest comment from Ivan Reitman shows that everything is being helmed secretly.
Ghostbusters universe is huge
Still, there is big fan following of the Ghostbusters, who want to see the sequel. The supporters of the movie are enough to bring a sequel on tracks, it’s up to the franchise creators, how they are going to bring original sparks on Ghostbusters. Moreover, Feig and Reitman are looking forward to working on the sequel maybe on a lower budget ensuring that the series continues its magical journey which started in 1980’s. Seeing Ivan Reitman optimistic response, it may be safe to say that, the movie sequel will be coming to spook the audience in near future.
Feig on other hand says that he would be surprised about the new movie. Currently, he is working on a talk show host comedy, written and starred by Mindy Kaling and directed by Feig. We hope to see the new Ghostbusters because; it has always been the promising movie since its inception.
