Guru Ravidass Jayanti Celebrations in India: Guru Ravidass Jayanti is celebrated on Magh Purnima as the birth anniversary of a popular saint of the Bhakti Movement whose devotional songs and verses filled the atmosphere with great enthusiasm and zeal. He was also called Rohidas, Raidas, and Ruhidas.
The Guru Ravidass Jayanti is celebrated with great pomp and show by his followers. On the occasion, special aarti is performed for him along with Nagar Kirtan procession carrying his portrait. Streets and localities are filled with music coming through Guru’s local temples. To perform rites, people take the holy dip in the River Ganges.
Bhawans are decorated and his portraits are worshipped with the holy chants. His devotees are seen excited on the occasion and various langars are organised in his memory.

The Guru Ravidass Jayanti 2017 is being celebrated on 10th of February this year with the same zest and fervour like every year. People are celebrating the occasion with great pomp and show. Bhawans are decorated with flowers and lights. The devotional music can be heard coming through the local temples as a part of his birth anniversary celebrations. Langars have also been organised for all the devotees. Nagar Kirtans have also been organised.

The grand celebrations of his jayanti are done at his birth place, Shri Guru Ravidass Janam Asthan Mandir, Seer Goverdhanpur, Varanasi where lakhs of his devotees come to celebrate the occasion from all over the world and offer prayers.
