After teasing the audiences with a number of stills and posters, the first Half Girlfriend Official Trailer has been finally released today by the makers of the film. The film has been adapted from the Chetan Bhagat’s book by the same name. The film stars the Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor as the main actors who will be seen sharing a complicated relationship with each other.

Arjun is seen in the role of Madhav Jha who hails from Bihar and Shraddha as Riya Somani. The trailer starts with Madhav battling to speak English in the entrance interview to get admission in the St Stephen’s College in Delhi. He then meets the top basketball player in the college, Riya with whom he shares a common interest for basketball. He is spotted cheering for her in the stands.
The first half of the trailer shows the two leads interacting and coming close to each other to become more than friends. The twist takes place when Riya says, “Main tumhari girlfriend nahi hoon. But I can be your half girlfriend,” showing the complicated relationship between the two. The couple breaks up on a bitter note.
After the separation, Madhav is seen struggling in his life, with his family and friend (Vikrant Massey) who warn him but he is determined to get Riya back in his life. A beautiful Arijit song plays in the background that is what we liked the most about the trailer.
Speaking about her role in the film, Shraddha said, “I am playing the titular role for the first time, it makes me nervous. It is also for the first time that I am working on a film which is an adaptation of a novel. It is an intense and emotional story, which Mohit is a master at.”
Arjun took to twitter to share the Half Girlfriend Official Trailer on his account and wrote, “Presenting the first peek into Madhav and Riya’s story.”
The trailer has created so many confusions that can only be cleared on 19th May after its release.
