This Krishna Janmashtami will be Krishna’s 5243rd birthday. Krishna was the eighth son Devaki and Vasudeva. It was predicted that Devaki’s brother, Kansa would be killed by the eighth son of her, so Kansa imprisoned the couple and killed six children of them fearing his death while during Devaki’s seventh pregnancy, she had a miscarriage.
After that, Krishna was born and taken to Gokul to Nanda and Yashoda by Vasudeva on the order of Vishnu and returned back with Yashoda’s daughter. Kansa threw her on stone, thinking that she was the eighth child of Devaki. She turned into Yogmaya (who is Vishnu’s helper) and warned Kansa that he will be dead one day. Krishna grew up in Gokul with his brother Balram and later, they both killed Kansa.
