Karunanidhi re-admitted: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief M. Karunanidhi has been re-admitted to the Kauvery Hospital in Alwarpet on Thursday’s late night. He had complained of difficulty in breathing due to throat and lung infection.
“Treatment has been initiated to clear his infection. He is stable and is being treated by a team of doctors,” a bulletin issued by S. Aravindan, executive director of the hospital, said.
Karunanidhi re-admitted to hospital by his son and party leaders
The 92-years-old leader Karunanidhi was taken to hospital from his Gopalapuram residence past 11.10 p.m. According to sources his son DMK Treasurer M.K. Stalin, daughter M. Kanimozhi and some senior party leaders were at the hospital with him. This is the second time when the veteran leader has been admitted to the hospital in the last fortnight.
Karunanidhi was admitted to the Kauvery Hospital for optimization of nutrition and hydration earlier on December 1 and was discharged on the night of December 7. Doctor advised him to take rest for a few days. It was appealed by the DMK through the press release to the supporters not to call him until he recaptures.
Party urged supporters not to meet until he recovers
The DMK leader Leader, Karunanidhi has not been seen amid public for over 40 days now ever since he developed a drug allergy on October 25. But December 10, the party announced that he would chair the DMK’s crucial general council meeting in Chennai on December 20 where his son Stalin is likely to be announced as working president of the party.
