Viewers’ favorite streaming film provider, Netflix has planned yet another happy moment for its subscribers. Known for rebooting classical favorites and it’s amazing collection of shows, the American service provider is all set to reboot the 1965 Science Fiction drama Lost in Space.
The worldwide streaming of a 10 Episode first season is expected in 2018, under the guidance of Zack Estrin, written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. Legendary Pictures that has many shows on Netflix since late 2015, has taken up the production for this project.
With original series’ premier in 1965 on CBS, the story revolves around the Robinson family that has set foot for Alpha Centauri. The crew’s doctor sabotages mission and sends the spaceship into deep space. But the show could not last any longer than 83 episodes and was finally cancelled in 1968.
Many attempts have been made to revive the series. In 1998, New Line Cinemas tried their luck starring William Hurt and Matt LeBlanc, followed by WB failure in 2003 with the pilot episode. Let’s see how the Legendary Pictures perform with their fresh adaption.
With famous names involved in this project, everyone awaits for the adaption. Expectations must be high as the minds behind this project are those from Prison break. Similar reboots like Battlestar Galactica come out with unexpected twists. Let’s hope something similar happens for Lost in Space. Netflix expects this investment to deliver a lasting impression on its viewers and keep up with expectations.
