Michelle Rodriguez put her foot down with Cameron’s long-awaited Avatar sequels after playing three other characters brought back to life in different movies.
When it comes to her roles, Michelle Rodriguez isn’t big on life after death.
Vanity Fair reported that when she died onscreen as Marine pilot Captain Trudy Chacón in 2009’s Avatar, the actress told director James Cameron that she wanted the character to die “as a martyr” in future sequels.
Additionally, she was first cast in Avatar in 2007, Rodriguez gushed on her website about getting to work with the Academy Award-winning director. “I’m not type to ass kiss, and I’ve never had a mentor in this field, not anybody as much as I admire,” she wrote.
Avatar: The Way of Water, James Cameron’s long-overdue sequel, debuted in December, surpassing $500 million globally in its first week and surpassing his own blockbuster Titanic to become the third-biggest international release of all time. Since then, Cameron has stated that he has plans for up to five additional movies in the series.
Rodriguez repeats her role as Letty in Fast X, the tenth Fast & Furious movie, which will debut on May 19. The game Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves now features her.
