Missing Student of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Najeeb Ahmad’s family and JNUSU office –bearers on Thursday allegedly that the university administration and Police had been heartless and insensitive in handling the case.
Najeeb’s family accused police and Jawaharlal Nehru University of negligence
They accused that there had been no extensive search of the campus including the forest area and that none of the 20-odd “eyewitnesses” who saw Najeeb being allegedly assaulted on October 14 had been questioned.
While alleging insensitivity by the administration, Najeeb’s cousin said at a press conference at the press club of India that she could not see any “humanity” in the way they were dealing with the circumstances.
Whenever there is a quarrel between two parties, both sides are made to write down their explanation. Why was no written explanation sought from the ABVP activists who hit beat him? And why they have not been questioning till now? She alleged.
Why the search ends in dargahs, why not in campus?
Missing student of Jawaharlal Nehru University relative Nadeem said that police were only searching him in the dargahs in and around the city. “They can search him in dargahs 500km away but they can’t do a thorough search in the campus first, he said.
JNU Rector Chintamani Mahapatra later tweeted: “Yesterday once again Police and JNU security undertook a combing operation in forested areas of campus in search of Najeeb… JNU VC and top officials met Najeeb’s family on 18 Oct and again tried multiple times today to apprise them of efforts to trace him.”
