The Mumbai police seized Rs 10.10 crore in old and new currency after intercepting a vehicle at Chembur, Mumbai on Thursday. It has detained three persons in connection with the case.
A senior police officer said that the cash seized included Rs 500 and Rs 100 banned notes worth Rs 10 crore and Rs 2000 notes worth Rs 10 lakh. Tilak Nagar police found the notes in two gunny bags in a car last night. The three arrested by the police were employees of Cooperative Bank in Pune district. They had claimed that the notes are transporting from Ghatkopar to the Pune bank branch.

As per ABP news report, one of the persons among accused were a bank manager of Pimpri Chinchwad branch of Vaidyanath Urban Cooperative Bank and other were employees of the same bank. It is worth mentioning here that the director of Vaidyanath Urban Cooperative bank is Pritam Munde daughter of late BJP leader Gopinath Munde.
Police has seized millions of money during raid on several parts of Mumbai
Following the demonetization, Mumbai police has recovered cash from several parts of the Mumbai city- Kalyan and Virar. In Kayan, Khadak Pada area police recovered Rs 21 lakh of which Rs 17lakh was in new notes. Police have found cash from two men on their Activa Scotties.
The raid at was a joint operation of the Income Tax department and Crime Branch which they recovered Rs 1.00 core in both old and new currency notes from the duo’s vehicle belonging to a Shiv Sena Corporator in Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation.
