Growing usage of internet enabled devices and availability of access public data have gradually lead to numerous virtual security threats globally. Free WiFi networks have become standard connection and data sharing points these days. But the link with a conventional network does not mean sharing the network, it leads to exposure of public and private data, even if the connection is password-protected.
According to Norton Business Unit, Symantec’s Executive Vice President Fran Rosch, users believe that if the WiFi is password-protected it is safe to use, and the data is protected. He explains that to save exchange of valuable information Norton has launched a new premium application named Norton WiFi Privacy. This application protects vital data including passwords and credit card information and prevents hacking on the same network.
As per latest Norton WiFi Risk Report 61% US respondents think that a password enabled WiFi network keeps their data protected.
The Norton app has been developed for both iOS and Android platforms and is available at a value of $29.99 annual subscription. It also includes 24/7 support and new protection features such as PC & MAC protection.
