GUANTANAMO BAY, CUBA – American Rapper Ludacris will perform for U.S Navy on 4th of July at Guantanamo Bay Base Camp.
Ludacris will be performing before 6,000 military personnel’s and is going to make this annual Freedom Festival more eye-catching. The function will start at 6PM and is also expected to include family activities. However, the musical gala will begin from 10PM onwards as reported by the Independent.
Ludacris has previously performed for US military at both Maryland’s Fort Meade (2010) and Fort Hood Texas (2014).
According to a statement passed by Navy Chief Monique Hilley, annual Freedom Festival witnesses participation of special guest/celebrity each year, but GITMO has never had such an experience. This is for the first time that a star as big as Ludacris will be performing at GITMO. Base camp is looking forward to 4th of July.
As per Miami Herald report, the residents of the base has also been informed by the Navy officials. The event is supposed to take place at Guantánamo’s Windward Ferry Landing.
Guantanamo Bay Base Camp is world known detention center that holds 89 war-on-terror prisoners; a facility that President Barack Obama wants to shut down. Located within a restricted military area, this is a home to US army, Navy families and defense contractors.
However, the performance area is located far from the actual detention centers and is also one of the biggest entertainment programs to be held in the area till date.
