Single entrance exam for engineering: The centre government has approved to conduct a single entrance exam for engineering and architecture at the undergraduate level from 2018. The one-time-exam will be on the basis of national eligibility and entrance test for medical colleges.
Government asked AICTE for execution of the proposal
All India Council for Technical Education has been asked to issue a suitable regulation for the execution of the proposal from the academic year 2018-19 by the Union human resource development ministry.
Government believes that through a single exam which will be held multiple times in a year will bring transparency and maintain standards and decrease the donation.
Earlier it was announced that aspirants can appear for the National-Eligibility-cum-Entrance-Test (NEET) for only three times, as new criteria for NEET exam has been introduced. Other side, the age limit of candidates has been set in order to appear for the examination.
It will bring down the number of older candidates competing with young candidates
Candidates who wish to appear for NEET, the minimum age for them 17 years and the maximum age for open category students is 25, 30 for reserved category.
The age limit for the reserved category has been set to30 years and ST, SC can also appear for the exam for only three times.
It has been introduced in the examination criteria to bring down the number of older candidates competing with young aspirants.
