Shiv Sena (Taksali) pioneer Sudhir Suri was shot dead by an aggressor outside a sanctuary in the city today. Suri was hit with more than five shots, which resulted in his unconsciousness. According to the police, he was transported to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The incident occurred while Suri and his supporters staged a demonstration outside Gopal Mandir in front of a large number of police officers. Sandeep Singh, the owner of a clothing store, was taken into custody by the police for allegedly shooting Suri with a legal weapon. A few meters away from the spot is his shop.
In addition, Suri’s supporters damaged the car of the accused, who had taken cover in a house after the crime. On the Amritsar-Attari road, they later staged a demonstration outside the hospital where Sudhir Suri was admitted. According to Police Commissioner Arun Pal Singh, the preliminary investigation revealed that the two groups had a disagreement regarding the management of the temple. He claimed that the conflicting factions engaged in a verbal duel before the incident occurred.
The accused had been detained, according to DGP Gaurav Yadav, and a .32-bore pistol had been seized. “An in-depth investigation is being conducted. We will probe if the incident is part of a larger conspiracy,” Yadav said.
Due to his controversial remarks on social media, sources claimed that Suri was on the list of targets for gangsters and some radical organizations. He was protected by more than a dozen police officers.
