MS Dhoni: The Untold Story has been released with a blasting opening at the box office and still now in almost every “Picture hall”. All credit goes to Cricketer MS Dhoni as the movie is his biopic. But we all have to admire the acting of starrer Sushant Singh Rajput for Playing as MS Dhoni Character in the Movie. You know there is a place where people cannot watch the movie on the big screen.
The place is dhoni’s own ancestral place “Lawali” located in the Almora district of Uttarakhand. His “Uncle” father’s brother still lives there. But neither his Uncle Ganpat not any other villagers can watch his biopic because for them; it is not an easy task as the Cinema hall is 115 km far away from their village.
It is worth mentioning that the nearest road-head to Lawali is at Jainti, five kilometers trek away, from where one has to travel 11 kilometers by or jeep to Haldwani in Nainital District to reach the nearest theater. Lawali is 75 kilometers away from Almora, the districts headquarter, and there are no cinema halls there.
While interviewing to Catch News site Almora resident Deep Joshi says “Two cinema halls used to operate in Almora, but they bunged down for nine years ago”. Since the location is situated in the interior of Almora, therefore there is no excitement in the Lawali’s villagers of releasing his movie. In fact, they are waiting for the day when the picture will be telecasted on Television.
His village is now a tourist place!
Dhonis’ success in international cricket has brought Lawali a lot of attention from the media and his fans. Today, the place has become the renowned tourist place even many cricket fans have come to explore Dhoni’s village. The place has also become a boon for the villagers from the business perspective.
Dhoni’s cousin Hayat told to Catch News “We have to carry sick villagers on doli to the nearest hospital situated at Jainti. We have recently submitted a proposal to the district administration demanding building a stadium at our village- for which the villagers are agreed to donate their land, however so far nothing has happened”.
Dhoni and his past
A zig-zag road passes through Dhoni’s ancestral village where you will find the people working in their roadside fields, women carrying fodder and cattle grazing. Lawali is similar to any other village in Uttarakhand which is situated in the remote area. The village is waiting to get road connectivity and far away from several development activities.
Dhoni himself visited the village in 2003, but now he has no time to visit again due to his busy cricketing schedule. Dhoni’s father, Pan Singh Dhoni left Lawali in 1972-73 to join the Ranchi Steel Factory. One resident Puran Bhandari told” Pan Singh uncle came here in 2001 to attend a wedding ceremony. He may have left village several years ago but he keeps in touch with us and his culture.
