At a time, when the new UK visa norms have tensed many of Indian aspirants who were looking to study and work in the United Kindom, the UK government has come with a proposal that will bring the smile back on the faces of many of the Indian aspirants to study in the UK. In a bid to attract the Indian students, the UK government is offering scholarships of one million pounds (Rs 85.1 crore) in 2017.
Isn’t this a great deal for the deserving students who were looking for a world class education and atmosphere to enhance their skills and they must utilise this opportunity. Around 198 students from India will be eligible for the scholarships and they could be from any background varying from Science, Arts, Law etc.
What Director of British council East India said while informing about the scholarships from UK Government?
Debanjan Chakrabarti, the director of British Council East India, said the new 198 scholarships under the ‘Great’ campaign are in subject areas ranging from art and design to engineering, law and management.
A total of 40 UK universities are participating in this programme. “Studying in the UK offers Indian students three things — a world-class education, being part of an international student body and the chance to work post study,” he said, adding selected students will join over 4,00,000 international students from 200 countries.
“We believe that the problems and challenges Indian students will be addressing over the next 50 years will need global solutions and that unique experiences, knowledge, networks and confidence gained from a world-class UK higher education course.
“It will give students the best platform to transform their lives, communities and country,” Chakrabarti said.
This came out a while after the United kIngdom has changed its Visa norms and it is said to affect the Indian aspirants the most. The Indian IT sector employees will suffer the most of the new visa norms. By the way, this step will definitely loose some tension from the Indian students who were looking to study in UK.
