One of the most popular faces in Punjabi film industry is no more. Comedian and Popular Punjabi actor Mehar Mittal passed away in a hospital in Mount Abu, Rajasthan, on Saturday.
81-years old Mehar Mittal was a famous name in Punjabi film industry and he used to play the comedic roles in Punjabi movies in early 1970’s and 80’s. The entire Punjab is in shock after hearing the news of sudden demise of a personality like Mr Mittal.
Early life of Mehar Mittal
Mehar Mittal was born in a small village in Bathinda district on October 24, 1935. Mittal had acted in about 200 movies and TV serials.
After graduation, he worked as a teacher and later moved to Chandigarh where he practised as a lawyer for a few years.
He used to play small roles in Ram Leela and audience used to like his comedy more than Ram Leela. He even acted in few plays which helped him to get a break in movies.
Speaking at a function in Bathinda some years back, he had revealed that he was paid only Rs 5 that included travelling allowance as remuneration for his first Punjabi film in 1972.
