World Humanitarian Day 2016:- The World Humanitarian Day is celebrated to remember those great people who have been injured or even lost their lives in their efforts to help people in need. Every year, the World Humanitarian Day is celebrated on 19 August to pay tribute to those people who risk their lives in humanitarian service. The work done by humanitarian aid workers are always important than anything else.
Around 65 million people have been forced to leave their home all over the world due to food shortages, lack of drinking water and destroyed infrastructure. Thus same number of humanitarian aid is needed for the same. The Germany is regarded as the third-largest donor of humanitarian aid is further taking steps to support people in need around the world. They are continuously working on motivating other donors to rise up the level of their commitments.
With each new day, humanitarian aid workers face wars and disasters, with tremendous danger and troubles to serve assistance to those who need it. Seven years ago, the World Humanitarian Day was initiated by the General Assembly to coincide with the anniversary of the 2003 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq.
The World Humanitarian Day is a global observance and not a public holiday. The World Humanitarian Day (WHD) is dedicated to all the humanitarians around the world to raise up the level of public understanding of humanitarian assistance services
. Numerous communities and organizations are trying to increase the importance of humanitarian aid workers by doing publicity and sharing information material. Some organizations interact with the press to spread the messages of World Humanitarian Day whereas others organize public events at various places around the world to uplift the humanitarian activities.
