Xiaomi latest flagships in India:-Lately, Xiaomi has been making a lot of ripples. Earlier, they were hitting the headlines when they launched the successor of their former flagship smartphone Mi 5 – the Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus. After a couple of days, reports started surfacing that Xiaomi is going to launch another flagship device. This time it was the Xiaomi Mi Note 2.

It was launched alongside Mi Mix and Mi VR. They all were initially launched in China and everyone was expecting that these smartphones will soon be launched in India but Xiaomi has confirmed that Mi 5s,Mi 5s Plus, Note 2 and Mix will NOT be launched in India.

In an unexpected turn of events, Hugo Barra, VP Global Operations, Xiaomi said, “Mi Note 2 and Mi Mix are not coming to India.” Now, this is a statement that would break millions of heart including my own. I wanted to get my hands on the Mi Mix but now it might not happen anytime soon.

Reasons behind no Xiaomi latest flagships in India

I am not alone. There were many who were anxiously waiting for the launch so that they could get their hands on one of the Xiaomi flagships. Hugo Barra, VP Global Operations, Xiaomi said, “The reason why is very simple to explain. Our portfolio in India is very small. We focus on having one flagship every year which is Mi 5. From a portfolio perspective, we have one flagship a year in India.”

He said that things might change from the subsequent year. When later asked about the plans regarding the launch of Mi 5s and 5s Plus in India, he said that there are no such plans.

One of the possible explanations for Xiaomi not showing interest in launching its flagship devices in India is the rather cold responses that they get. Earlier flagships launched in India did not get the response that Xiaomi expected they would. As a matter of fact, they were very successful in selling budget phones like the Redmi Note 3, Redmi 3s and Redmi 3s Prime.

Furthermore, Xiaomi Mi Note 3 is the most selling phone in the country. This means that Xiaomi might be planning on focussing on their budget segment for some time. Stay tuned as we bring to you more updates on the launch of Xiaomi latest flagships in India.
