Most Unsafe States in India: Over the past fifteen years, India has travelled far in development of the nation in almost every respect. With every freshly elected political party, coming into power, tall claims are made to have made the country a better place to live in. However, there’s one thing that has worsened over these years.
The safest and most unsafe states in India in 2015
While the sex ratio in India has been bettered in the 21st century, the crime rates against women have increased at an increasing rate. The National Crime Records Bureau Report tells that the crime rate against women in 2001 was 237 per day, while in 2015 it rose to 313 per day.
Delhi tops the list of most unsafe place for women in India as the incidence of crime in Delhi is the highest as compared to that in other states i.e. 75 women per lakh.
The three worst states in India in crime rate against women in 2001 were Delhi, Haryna and Assam, while in 2015 also, these three top the list, the only difference being the interchanging of position among these three.
Nagaland, Meghalya and Sikkim were the best performers in 2001 as the crime rate against women was lowest here. While in 2015, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Sikkim are the best states that rank low on crime rate against women in India.
The increase of crime rate against the females is largely blamed upon the neglegance of the government, inadequate steps taken by administration and the ignorance of the society.
