The Unfazed Widow Of A Soldier: Son To Serve The Indian Army:Wife and other family members of Raghvendra Singh, who laid down his life for the country by fighting terrorists in Tuesday’s terror attack in Nagrota, Jammu and Kashmir, have resolved and are more than ever determined to raise the soldier’s five month old son “to serve the Indian Army”.
An officer and three soldiers were killed while fighting the terrorists when they barged into the base around 5.30 am and fired indiscriminately. The terrorists entered two buildings occupied by officers and their families. After several hours, a dozen soldiers, two women and two children were rescued, but in the operation, a second officer and two more soldiers were killed. One of the slain soldiers was Grenadier Raghvendra Singh.
The native village of the martyr- Dholpur, is in a state of shock and awe of the soldier who gave the highest form of sacrifice for the country.

“My son is five-month-old and I will raise him to serve the nation by joining the Army. If ever I get a chance, I am also ready to serve the nation,” said Anju Sikarwar the 24 year old wife of the martyred soldier.
Her spirit is unwavering and resolute in making her 5 year old son join the Army. About her own future she said, “If I am not able to join the Army I will serve the country with the tool of education and take up a teaching job.”
“Akhir Pakistan kitney beton ki shahdat lega(How many sons can Pakistan perish?),” she said without flinching. She is pursuing her B.Ed from a private college in Madhya Pradesh and aims to serve the country by becoming a teacher.
The martyred soldier had called 10 hours before the tragedy struck, according to some of his family members. “He had called up his mother Indira Devi and had asked her to look after herself well. He had promised to return soon,” said Ramgopal Parihar, father of the martyr.
One son is lost to the cause of the nation, yet Raghvendra’s elder brother, Parvendra Singh, is also an army man. He is serving in Rastriya Riffles of the Indian Army.
