GujCET replaces JEE: Gujarat government had earlier proposed the replacement of Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) with Gujarat common entrance test (GujCET) for the students who are seeking admission in engineering colleges, Pharmacy courses in Gujarat.
Chief minister Anandiben Patel had taken this initiative. On December 1st, finally, the Gujarat government has come to a decision and released an official notice on the validity of GujCET for admissions.
Students feel relieved , GujCET replaces JEE, Joint Entrance Exam
As per the notice, the results of GujCET carried out by Admission Committee for professional courses (ACPC) will be primarily considered for the admission in government quota, management quota, Grant in aid, self-finance institutions in the state. Government resolution regarding the issue was passed on 19th November.
For all India quota seats, the admissions will be done on the basis of Joint Entrance merit list. It has also been made clear that GujCET has been introduced to make it easy and encourage the students who actually wants to study as the issue has been raised earlier about the problems that parents and families cannot afford to send their children in other states.
The GujCET syllabus is based on the curriculum of Gujarat secondary and higher education board.
GujCET eligibility criteria– there will be 60% weightage of percentile in theory subject in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology of class XII (or all four-semester examination of XI and XII) and 40% weightage of GujCET. Students are waiting for the GujCET to get to know the syllabus pattern.
The students who wish to take admission from outside Gujarat state will have to clear JEE Joint entrance exam.
