As said by SBI Chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya, it is expected that the restrictions on the cash withdrawals from the Automated Teller Machines and the banks are deemed to last a bit longer than sought.
“We have to see… if there is cash I will give it, if there is no cash, whether restriction or no restriction, I cannot give it. We can only give what is available with me.”

The above statement given by the SBI Chairman came after being asked in a press conference whether the banks are ready to fight off the cash-crunch given the restrictions as under the demonetisation policy are withdrawn.

Furthermore, she said, “The restrictions will be decreased over a period of time. Nobody wants everyone rushing to the banks thinking there are no restrictions so let me get back everything…So I think the restrictions will go down slowly. It is not something that will happen just tomorrow” when asked whether the restrictions will end soon enough or not.

Recently, the withdrawal limit has been increased to Rs 24000 weekly and Rs 2500 per day from the ATMs. And the old notes can be deposited in one go before December 30th.
