Israeli settlements: Three days after United Nations adopted a resolution condemning the Israeli settlements in West Bank and East Jerusalem, US President-elect Donald Trump tweeted – UN “is just a club for people to get together, talk and have a good time. So sad!”

He said that despite having “such great potential”, the United Nations has become a mere club for its members who just join it to have a fun time. Donald Trump, however, did not make it clear as to what he deemed as wrong in United Nation’s verdict. He held the opinion that the United Nations should have blocked the move.
Donald Trump warned on Friday, “As to the UN, things will be different from January 20th.”
In December 2015, Donald Trump had said that he wanted to remain “very neutral” to the Israeli-Palestinian issue. But by the time US Presidential election campaigns started, he had totally shown his support for Israel.
The outgoing US President has always shown his support for United Nations. In a conference last month, Obama said that United States shoul continue to build and maintain the basic framework of the “world order”.
“And I’ve said before, that’s a burden that we should carry proudly…And I would hope that not just the 45th president of the United States, but every president of the United States understands that that’s not only a burden, but it’s also an extraordinary privilege. And if you have a chance to do that right, then you should seize it.”
