Five Indian-Americans take oath as the members of the Congress on Tuesday. Coming from a minority community, this is a massive leap for the Indian-Americans in the US.
One of the five Indian-Americans who has taken oath as the member of the Congress is Raja Krishnamoorthi. Yet another in the league, Kamala Harris (52 years) was sworn in as the Senator of the Senator from California. She is the first Indian-American who will e serving in the Senate.

The other three Indian-Americans Democrats are Ami Bera and Rohit Khanna from California and Pramila Jayapal from Washington state for the House of Representatives.

The Republican Bobby Jindal has just finished his term, while Nikki Haley who was earlier serving as a Governor has been nominated as the US ambassador to the United Nations.
“Today I was sworn-in to the US Senate. I am humbled and honoured to serve you and the people of California. Let’s get to work”, Kamala Harris said. Her sister Maya Harris was also present at the ceremony.
She said that her top priority would be to fight the divisive policies of the Republicans who have now assumed the majority in the Senate and the House of Representatives.
