CISF Jawan shot dead case: Balbir Singh, a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) who shot dead four of his colleagues in Aurangabad in Bihar on Thursday was mentally ill and was undergoing psychiatric treatment. His family members and neighbours have said that he was suffering from mental illness for several years.

Family members claimed that they had intimated CISF official about the mental condition of the Balbir even they had also sent his medical report but no serious note was taken. They alleged their representation was dismissed as ignored as a routine excuse by the CISF.
People from Raupur village in Aligarh district are in a sock after Balbir’s killing spree. The 30-year-old havildar with CISF Balbir Singh was deployed in Bihar is said to a patient of mental illness for last five years for which he had taken treatment in a hospital in Delhi.
As per the family member and villagers, 30 years old man was patient of mental illness for last five years. “Balbir used to visit Delhi for treatment occasionally,” revealed a family member.
“Balbir used to lose his mental balance now and then and get disconnected with the surroundings. There had been cases when he used to beat up those nearing him and on other occasions throw away money from the house,” said a villager.
Balbir was angry over leave issue and fired at fellow colleagues from his service rifle, killing two of them on the spot at the company campus. Two others died shortly after.
“Balbir Singh had returned home after losing mental balance about a couple of months and was taken to Max Hospital in Delhi by brother Vinod Singh” Jaiveer Singh, a villager told daily.

Balbir’s wife Vimlesh has stopped living with him where he was posted as he stuck her with a rifle butt. They have two young sons- Vishal studying in fourth standard and Sagar who is in the second standard.
Balbir was studied up to the 10th class told his family members. His father was also in CISF who died in harness ten years ago. Then, Balbir got the job in place of his father as part of the CISF’s scheme of providing employment to a dependent of its personnel who die in service.
Balbir is a simple man with no criminal background. He has three brothers and he is second amongst there. His elder brother was killed by enemy last year during panchayat elections which, their mother Saroj Devi had contested. His young brother Vindo works at a clothes shop.
