In the course of an ongoing investigation into a case that is related to an alleged leakage of question paper for the examination for the position of Assistant Engineer (Civil), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out searches on around 16 distinct locations on Thursday in Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh.
On August 26 and 27, 2022, the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) administered the examination.
The searches turned up incriminating documents and items, including hard disks, pen drives, and fake or counterfeit stamps from the executive engineer, State Bank of India, executive magistrate of Arunachal Pradesh, and so on.
On the request of the Arunachal government and in response to a subsequent notification from the Centre directing the investigation to Itanagar Police Station, the CBI registered a case on October 26.
The case as mentioned earlier was filed against a private individual from an Itanagar coaching institute and unidentified APPSC officials in response to a complaint about the alleged leakage of question papers prior to the written exam.
The complainant, who was a candidate, had said that the accused, who was a teacher at the institute, had questions for the exam and had leaked papers with the help of unknown APPSC officials with APPSC Question Paper Leak confirmation.
The matter is the subject of additional investigation.
