India observes Children’s Day on November 14 each year. This day is also known as Bal Divas, and the Hindi word “Bal” means “child” and “divas” means “day.”In addition, this day is observed to commemorate the birthday of our first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. He was referred to as “Chacha Nehru” or “Chachaji” by children because he had a special bond with them and was always affectionate around them.Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was born on November 14, 1889, in Allahabad.
He attended private school at home during his early years. His 132nd birthday falls on this day. After he passed away in 1964, a resolution was made to mark his birthday as Bal Divas, or Children’s Day, so that everyone could remember how important it is to keep their childlike qualities and remember to celebrate them.
