Kuiper belt is the icy bodies of large clouds that revolve at the fringes of a solar system, the object is also named as “2015 RR245″, it was spotted by the team of astronomers in February 2016.It was discovered in the survey for outer solar system origins.
The researchers are still not exactly sure about its size but according to their estimation, it would be about 435, miles wide, if it comes out to be true it would be known as the 18th largest object in the belt, but for the accurate size astronomers need to measure the surface properties in depth.
It takes 700 years to complete since it has incredibly wide orbit which takes it much farther than pluto, but it has the nearest approach to the sun I.e within 34 astronomical units (AUs) to our star, at its farthest it has almost three times of sun from pluto, as of now it’s travelling in a closer orbit to the sun and is estimated to reach closest in 2096.
“2015 RR245” was first discovered by OSSOS, it was launched in 2013 and since then it has spotted many Kuiper belt objects, Dwarf planets are much larger than other objects of Kuiper belt and asteroids, however too small to be considered as planets.Basically, dwarf planets are those objects that are big enough to be rounded by its own gravitational force and are orbiting the sun however there are few other objects that cross the path of dwarf planet.
So far five planets have been recognized by IAU, four in Kuiper belt and one in Asteroid belt.
